![]() On July 16, the US House of Representatives passed H.Con.Res. 6, in support of the goals and ideals of National COPD Awareness Month. Sponsored by Rep. Cliff Stearnes (R-FL), the resolution garnered 20 cosponsors from both sides of the aisle and was passed by a vote of 423-0. This action represents a major legislative victory for the US COPD Coalition Partners. Bringing about a National COPD Awareness Month in November 2003 has been one of the group's major initiatives this year. Construction company in UAE Just over a week later, on July 24, a companion resolution was introduced in the Senate by Michael Crapo (R-ID). The US COPD Coalition's broad grassroots network is currently working to encourage Senators to support S.Con.Res. 59 and to sign on to the resolution as cosponsors. As of July 28, 2003, the Senate resolution was in the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. Eventual passage by the full Senate was considered likely, but your help is needed: Action Alert: CALL or EMAIL your Senators TODAY and ask them to cosponsor the Crapo concurrent resolution about National COPD Awareness Month.
